Graduate Certificate: Emergency Management Using GIS

This certificate focuses on the concepts of strategic governance and the use of location intelligence data in the ethical decision-making process for government response and action. Learners will employ spatial methods of organizing, planning, and managing real-time data in many facets of public service, including disaster management, public administration, law enforcement, and environmental management. Utilizing Esri training and University of Massachusetts Global coursework, they will apply Geographical Information System (GIS) and data analytics to data-driven decision-making.

Admission to the Certificate Program

Admission to the certificate program is granted to individuals who apply and meet the standards for admission to a graduate program. The certificate is awarded upon successful completion of all coursework with a minimum grade of “C” and an overall grade point average of 3.0 or above. A maximum of 3 transfer credits is authorized to support this certificate. Emergency Management Using GIS Graduate Certificate course requirements may be applied toward the completion of a graduate degree in Business, Leadership, Human Resources, Public Administration, or GIS and Data Analytics.
